TEACHING AS SCHOLARSHIP
In Scholarship Reconsidered, Ernest Boyer recommended that teaching be reconsidered as a form of scholarship. In doing so, faculty members would be able to build upon the work of others and make public their own. The result would be faculty receiving the recognition and reward enjoyed by other forms of scholarship. The Instructional Development Center encourages all faculty to join in the scholarship of teaching through participation in workshops, discussion groups, and mentoring activities.
