The University of Central Arkansas is seeking a dynamic and highly organized professional as its Executive Director of Development. The ED will work closely with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement managing the day to day development and moves management activities. Also, he or she should have proven experience in aspects of development operations and administration in a university environment.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Management of University Development: 25%
Provide coordination of major gift, foundation and planned gift programs.
Provide direct supervision for development field staff, including establishing and monitoring performance goals.
Major Gifts Fundraising: 75%
Serve as a principal gifts officer for a number of university’s top prospects including individuals, corporations and foundations.
Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle:
Initiate contacts with potential leadership and major gift donors
Develop appropriate cultivation strategies for them, including working with volunteers
Move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure
Make solicitations when appropriate
Maintain stewardship contacts with donors; adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflect optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to needs of the donors
Work collaboratively with college development and advancement officers. Offer prospect strategy counsel to the president, vice president, development and advancement staff who are managing other prospects. Be a resource for development/advancement staff, from identifying potential volunteer connections to knowing about meeting and event spaces in key locations.
Develop and implement an annual plan for increasing private support for capital, scholarship and program needs.
Minimum of five years experience in advancement operations and management in a university setting; Related experience will be considered.
Proven personal record of successful development results and team management;
Knowledge of fund-raising skills and prospect management process;
Demonstrated abilities to work collaboratively with other development personnel;
Well-developed capabilities in strategic planning, problem solving, attention to detail and task completion;
Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills;
Successful campaign experience preferred;
Bachelor’s Degree Required , Master’s degree preferred;
Work primarily in Arkansas but some out of state travel required;
