STEM RESIDENTIAL COLLEGE RESIDENT MASTER-ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT/LEARNING COMMUNITIES & COLLEGE OF NATURAL SCIENCES AND MATHEMATICS

UCA’s highly successful STEM Residential College in Arkansas Hall (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) is seeking qualified faculty (Ph.D. preferred, but not required) to apply for the STEM Resident Master position. This “faculty in residence” position is initially a two-year/eleven-month commitment (01 August 2013 until 30 June 2014; 01 August 2014-30 June 2015) offering six hours reassign time each fall and spring semester and administrative duties during the summer. Position may be extended by year-by-year appointment after the initial contract has expired. A Resident Master’s responsibilities include:
- to live in the STEM College and serve as an intellectual and personal role model.
- to teach for the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (CNSM) in the STEM College.
- to help maintain and enhance the tone and theme of the STEM College.
- to nurture an active academic environment.
- to encourage the use of instructional technology.
- to promote STEM College unity, interaction, and cooperation.
- to promote student/faculty associate interaction inside/outside the classroom.
- to develop STEM College goals in cooperation with the Director of Learning Communities and the STEM Rector.
- to establish a calendar for the academic year.
- to co-organize programs and activities with the Director of Learning Communities, the STEM Rector and Housing/Residence Life.
- to act as liaison to the STEM College Hall Council.
- to facilitate leadership development of the STEM College undergraduate mentors
- to assess and report on the effectiveness of the STEM College.
- to present programs at campus workshops and professional conferences.
- to serve as a member of the STEM Advisory Committee.
The STEM Resident Master will reside in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (CNSM) and work in conjunction with the Division of Undergraduate Studies.
In addition to a year-round, utilities paid faculty apartment (refrigerator, stove, washer/dryer included) provided at no charge by Office of Housing, the Resident Masters will receive a number of cafeteria meals and designated parking spaces at the STEM College (parking decal not included). Pets are acceptable with payment of a sizeable pet deposit.
