LABORATORY COORDINATOR:  The Department of Biology invites applications for the position of Laboratory Coordinator. The laboratory coordinator is responsible for managing the operation and inventory of a scientific academic laboratory. The employee will assist in preparing teaching laboratories, maintain basic supply stock, complete periodic inventories on supplies and equipment, oversee animal care facilities, manage chemical and waste chemical inventories, oversee communication of safety requirements in the department, and supervise student workers. Employee will also assist faculty in development of class presentations requiring laboratory items and update laboratory procedure manuals as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. The candidate should have knowledge of scientific subjects, such as chemistry or biology, general laboratory procedures and governmental safety regulations regarding laboratory chemicals and supplies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The formal education of a high school diploma; plus two years of specialized training in applied science or related field; plus one year of experience maintaining a scientific laboratory or related area. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
