DEAN-COLLEGE OF BUSINESS
The University of Central Arkansas (UCA) invites applications and nominations for the Dean of the College of Business.
The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with the vision and enthusiasm necessary to lead the College into the future. As such, this individual should possess significant strategic planning experience, a strong commitment to hiring and retaining outstanding faculty and developing and supporting entrepreneurial and other innovative programs; be an effective advocate for learning and research consistent with the mission of the college and university; have proven experience with planning and fiscally responsible management; have experience with and commitment to AACSB International accreditation. As the “face” of the College of Business, this individual will be key to advancing the reputation and outreach of the college, and as such, should also serve as an effective fund-raiser with a demonstrable ability to develop beneficial relationships with business and industry.
The College of Business occupies a recently constructed 70,000 square foot state-of-the-art building, which houses our four academic departments. The College offers twelve degree programs at the undergraduate level and two (MBA and MAcc) programs at the master’s level, with typical enrollment in the college averaging approximately 1,200 undergraduates and 75 graduate students. In addition, the College has recognized centers focusing on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and Insurance and Risk Management.
UCA is comprised of six colleges and has an enrollment of approximately 11,000 students. UCA is located in beautiful Conway, Arkansas, a progressive, rapidly growing community of nearly 60,000 just 35 miles from the state capital of Little Rock. Conway is home to UCA and two private colleges and was ranked as one of the top 25 places in the United States in “Where the jobs are” by CNNMoney. The city and surrounding area have a vibrant entrepreneurial business community and established corporations in the technology and manufacturing industries.
Preference will be given to applicants with a terminal degree from an AACSB accredited school in a business or business-related discipline and significant higher education leadership experience. In addition, candidates will be eligible for tenure in the College of Business. Applicants with significant private sector business experience will be considered. Review will begin November 30, 2012.
