ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF FRENCH-DEPARTMENT OF WORLD LANGUAGES
Assistant Professor of French, tenure-track, beginning August 15,2013. Generalist to teach French language, literature, and culture courses at all levels in the major, as well as cultural studies courses in English for our general education program. Strong commitment to teaching French language classes in a program grounded in ACTFL proficiency standards and evidence of classroom teaching effectiveness at the college level required. Ph.D. in French or related field. Specialty open, but the Department prefers candidates with expertise in French/Francophone studies post 1900. Maghreban or Sub-Saharan African focus desirable. Native or near-native fluency in French and English. 3/3 teaching load in first year and 4/4 thereafter with possibility of reassigned time.
The French program offers students the opportunity to complete the traditional major, a French education track leading to P-12 teaching licensure or a business French track. French students study abroad at our exchange partner schools in Belgium, Canada, and France.
