The Department of Mathematics at the University of Central Arkansas is seeking to fill at

least one tenure-track assistant/associate professor position in mathematics education

beginning August 2013. Each position requires a doctorate in mathematics education

with specialty in middle or secondary level education. Preference will be given to

candidates with teaching experience in some grade range within K-12. Duties include

teaching undergraduate and graduate mathematics education courses and conducting

research in teaching and learning.

A strong commitment to and proven ability in undergraduate teaching is required.

Regular teaching load is 12-credit hrs per semester. Reassigned time for research is

available. At the present time, the Department has 21 full-time faculty members and 20

graduate teaching assistants. The department offers undergraduate degrees in applied

mathematics, mathematics and mathematics education as well as masters degrees in

applied mathematics and mathematics education. UCA is among three state

universities selected to implement the UTeach Program this fall.

transcripts, statements of teaching and research philosophy, and three letters of

reference to the Chair of the Math Education Search Committee, Department of

Mathematics, University of Central Arkansas, Conway, AR 72035. Review of applications

will begin November 15, 2012 and will continue until the position(s) are filled.

Conway is a growing city of over 50,000 with two private colleges in addition to the

University of Central Arkansas. Residents enjoy easy access to both a large urban center

(Little Rock is 30 minutes away via 1-40) and pristine wildlife areas such as the Buffalo

National River, and the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains.
