UCA Disability Support Services Associate Director:
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Evaluate and interpret student disability documentation for the purpose of determining eligibility and appropriate accommodations.
Assist in the development of departmental strategic plan.
Determine appropriate accommodations for students and work with faculty and departments to implement those accommodations in an instructional setting.
Assist with departmental planning, programming, and budget preparation.
Coordinate interpreting and transcription services.
Supervise on-site transcriber staff.
Provide outreach/education services to other on-campus offices (i.e. admissions, continuing education, and academic advising) as well as community institutions such as high schools, and local agencies.
Coordinate volunteer note-taker program.
Document, maintain and review current and accurate case records and related information in electronic and manual files.
Provide training and consultation to faculty, staff and students on disability issues.
Assist with daily supervision of the department.
Other duties as assigned.
Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm, to include extended hours as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of disability rights legislation.
Ability to apply problem solving techniques and professional judgment to complex situations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven leadership skills.
Ability to understand and interpret psycho-educational diagnostic reports.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of records and conversations.
Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Higher Education, Counseling or related field.
3 years of student services experience.
Experience working with students with disabilities at the post-secondary level.
Working knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act).
