INTERNAL HIRE ONLY

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Apprentice Tradesman assists a certified or licensed skilled tradesman in all phases of work associated with a particular trade and is responsible for learning the duties in an apprentice training program. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:  Provides assistance to Skilled Tradesman while training in a variety of areas such as electrical work, plumbing, painting, etc., while working as a helper.  The main focus of this particular position will be assisting the Environmental Health & Safety Officer.  Monthly checks of campus fire extinguishers, assisting in indoor air quality testing and other general duties as assigned on a daily basis.  The ability to follow written and oral instructions  and the ability to create and maintain an inventory of all fire extinguishers is a must. One year experience in the trade area preferred. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Completion of sufficient education or training to read and write. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.   Must have current Arkansas driver's license.  OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
