GIS Day – 2017

UCA’s GIS Day Celebration is right around the corner!!

Join the UCA Geography Department, Geography Club, and Gamma Theta Upsilon for a celebration of Geography and GIS. Students and faculty will showcase examples of Geography research and conduct demonstrations of ArcGIS Online. Department alumni will also participate in an panel discussion about the state of careers in Geography and GIS.

Schedule

  • 12:00 – 1:00  –  Learn ArcGIS Online. Do you have data that you’d like to see on a map? Could there be    spatial patterns in your research? ArcGIS Online is a campus-wide resource that all UCA faculty, staff, and  students can utilize. Learn how to use this web-based program to make basic visualizations of data.
  • 1:00 – 2:00  –  Geography Research Exhibition. Students and faculty in the Geography Department engage in a variety of research endeavors. See what we’re up to with a presentation of posters and digital media of recent research.
  • 2:00 – 4:00  –  Alumni Panel Discussion. Join UCA Geography Department alumni for a discussion of career possibilities in Geography and GIS. What skills are in demand? What are the keys to getting the most out of your time as a student at UCA? Find out from alumni employed across central Arkansas.
  • 4:00 – 4:30  –  Gamma Theta Upsilon Induction. Top students from Geography courses will be celebrated in an induction into the International Geography Honor Society, Gamma Theta Upsilon.
