Description

Bourbon and Boots is an e-commerce site, perfect for the intern who is interested in learning more about the inner Bourbon and Boots imageworkings of a start-up internet business.

Selected students will learn the basics of search engine optimization, gain real life writing experience that will help grow their portfolio, learn how to produce and upload content for a website, and develop a skill-set in customer relations.

Specific tasks will range from working with social media to writing, pitching story ideas, planning events and photo shoots, building product pages, uploading content, organizing inventory, shipping orders, assisting with customer service, and scouting new vendors.

Work Schedule

An intern should be prepared to work out of Bourbon and Boots’ Little Rock office for approximately 20 hours per week. The work schedule for this internship is flexible.

Selection & Qualifications

The internship is competitive, with selection based on a resume and an application portfolio highlighting solid writing skills and creative talent.

Bourbon and Boots is particularly interested in students who have the following:

  • a passion for writing
  • web-savviness
  • interest in fashion, the South and retail

Students must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and a 3.25 in their degree program to qualify for this internship. Further, applicants should have completed at least nine hours of writing courses at the 3000-level.

Applicants may be required to submit their application materials to Dr. Kyle Mattson, Internship Coordinator, for review. Top candidates will be invited by the editors to interview for the position.

Internship Credit

Students may earn up to three hours of elective credit for the successful completion of this internship.

To be eligible for internship credit, students must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and a 3.25 in their degree program. In addition, applicants must have completed at least nine hours of writing courses at the 3000-level.

Enrollment in WRTG 4385 requires approval by Dr. Kyle Mattson, Internship Coordinator.
