What is ASID?

The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) is the oldest and largest professional organization for interior designers.  ASID was established in 1975 resulting from a merger of two interior design associations formed in 1931.  With more than 30,500 members, ASID establishes a common identity for professionals and businesses in the field of interior design.  Most ASID design consultants specify the products and services used in their design work, and more than 70 percent of ASID professional designers own or manage their own design firms

Why choose ASID?

ASID’s commitment to education is long standing. Established in 1970, the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (formerly known as the Foundation for Interior Design Education Research or FIDER) was established by the leading interior design professional organizations at that time to develop standards for interior design education and to acknowledge the increasing demands of an emerging profession.

Students receive valuable professional and leadership training skills through their ASID membership.  Members of the Student Advisory Council give advice on programs such as the ASID Student Gathering, the ASID Job Fair, and many more.  Also, the quarterly student newsletter, ACCESS, keeps students informed about issues related to the interior design profession.

Chapter Information

The University of Central Arkansas Student Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (UCA Student Chapter ASID) is proud to be part of the South Central District of ASID formerly known as the Louisiana District.  Mississippi and Louisiana are also part of the South Central District.

Our chapter is a non-profit, unincorporated membership association, organized and existing under authorization granted by the American Society of Interior Designers, since 1994.  We strive to provide opportunities for chapter officers and members to attend as many trips, conferences, and functions as possible.  These are greatly funded by our local chapter fundraising efforts.

**Meetings are the 3rd Tuesday of each month in the McAlister Hall Mirror Room.**
