Maria Posada, MS
Interior Design Instructor
A member of the University of Central Arkansas faculty since 2013, Maria Posada has taught in the Interior Design Program in the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences. Prior to working with higher education, she worked for five years for Dell Corporation, where she obtain the Soul of Dell award in 2006.
Maria is certified in OSHA Hazardous Communication and ADEQ Operator (Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality). In addition to a Master’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences and Interior Design, Maria holds an Art Degree with an emphasis in mixed media design. As an interior designer, she has worked as an AutoCAD manager in different trades which included projects such as Murphy USA Headquarters in El Dorado and UA Fowler House in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
She is also an active member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). She serves in several committees on campus, which includes; the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences Diversity Liaison and Family and Consumer Sciences Scholarship Committee. She has been instrumental in obtaining and maintaining Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) and the National Council for Preservation Education (NCPE) membership for the Interior Design Program.
Maria teaches several technology based courses across the undergraduate curricula, including Digital Design, Architectural Drafting, Introduction to AutoCAD, and Commercial Design, along with Environmental Technology and Sustainability Systems were advanced software is taught such as Revit Architecture, AutoCAD, and Sketch Up. She is currently working towards the certification of the National Council for Interior Design qualification, as well as the development of an instructional workbook in Revit Architecture and a research study in “Healing buildings relationship to Active Design.”
