Linda “Diane” Brown teaches Methods in Family and Consumer Science as well as instructs and supervises Internship I and II in FACS Education.
Mrs. Brown earned a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Science Education at the State College of Arkansas (UCA) in 1973 and her M.S.E. in Family and Consumer Science at UCA in 1981. Besides being certified to teach Family and Consumer Science, she is certified to teach social studies and science. In 2009, Mrs. Brown completed qualifications to be an Arkansas Praxis III Assessor.
Mrs. Brown is from the north central region of Arkansas and has worked in the education field for over 30 years. Twenty seven of those years were spent teaching Family and Consumer Science courses to middle and high school students as well as teaching secondary science classes for five years. She also has experience providing in-service training to adults in the childcare field. Before becoming a teacher educator at UCA, Mrs. Brown served as a mentor to numerous student teachers or interns from the college.
Presently Mrs. Brown serves on the Conway Public School’s FACS Advisory Board and is a member of Phi Upsilon Omicron. Some of the awards Mrs. Brown has received include high school teacher of the year and the “Distinguished Alumnae” award in the Department of Family and Consumer Science at UCA in 2011.
