SLANT Submission Guidelines

Submission Period

We look forward to hearing from readers and contributors at any time during the year and we welcome your inquiries. However, we accept submissions of poems only from August 1 – September 30 (for the Fall Issue) and February 1 – March 31 (for the Spring Issue)You may, however, submit news and reviews at any time during the year and may do so by visiting SLANT Forum.

Editorial Policies

While SLANT is open to traditional verse forms and narrative poetry, editorial policies place no strictures on poetic form or subject matter. They do guide us, however, in the search for well-crafted poems that exhibit depth of insight and originality of expression.

How to Submit

Submissions are accepted by email only. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable, but please inform us as soon as possible if your poems have been accepted for publication elsewhere.

Send no more than five original and previously unpublished poems of moderate length (no translations or haiku). Please place your name at the top of each page.

Append poems as an email attachment and send to slantpoetry@uca.edu. Be sure to add the word“Submission” in the subject field of your email.

Response Time

Allow up to 2 to 3 months from submission deadline for a definitive response on acceptance. We will do our best to shorten that time when possible. And we will request additional biographical information from poets whose work has been selected for publication.

Publication Rights

SLANT reserves First North American Serial Rights and electronic-archive rights for material published in its pages. Otherwise, copyright reverts to the author.
