Educational Technology Competency Exam
The Educational Technology Competency Exam consists of four sections:
- Microsoft Excel 2010
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2010
- Microsoft Word 2010
- Basic Computer Literacy and Information Literacy
Note: There is a significant difference between Office 2003 and Office 2007/2010.
Testing Schedule & Registration
The Educational Technology Competency Exam is currently being offered in the Technology Learning Center. The exam must be taken in the TLC (Mashburn Suite 102) between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM. Testing seat availability will be on a first-come, first-serve basis and the cost of the exam is $20. Please note that the TLC can only accept exact cash or check. Once an access code is purchased, the student will be allowed two weeks to complete the exam. The student may take all sections of the test at once or take one section at a time during the allotted two weeks.

Study Guide, Tutorials, & Software
- Basic Computer Literacy and Information Literacy Concepts - Study Guide
- Microsoft Office 2010 Word, Excel, & PowerPoint study materials are available to users within the 2-week period after purchasing the code. These materials include electronic access to the textbook from which the exam was created and chapter PowerPoints. The materials can be accessed from off campus.
- The TLC also has two physical copies of the textbook from which the exam was created. Students may check out a copy with their UCA ID. The books may not leave the TLC.
- Additional study materials - Free Microsoft Office 2010 Tutorials
- Access to the Microsoft Office 2010 software is available in computer labs across campus (e.g. - Technology Learning Center lab in Mashburn 102; Torreyson Library)
- A fully functional 60-day free trial version of the Microsoft Office 2010 software is available here.
