National Board for Professional Teaching Standards

The College of Education at the University of Central Arkansas sponsors a National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Candidate Support Site for teachers in Arkansas school districts. The primary goal is to coach and mentor teachers throughout the NBPTS certification process. The Center provides mentoring support for NBPTS initial, advanced, and renewal candidates. The UCA NBPTS Candidate Support Center is supported by the Arkansas Department of Education.

The Department of Teaching and Learning also offers a Pre-Candidacy Graduate course through the Advanced Studies in Teacher Leadership (ASTL) program. This course will earn you 3 hours of graduate credit during Summer II (July). Interested teachers can enroll through the ASTL program or as a non-degree seeking student.
