Read Aloud Tool

Read aloud can be used with any accessible document.  You can adjust voice, speed, and pronunciations.

Read the Web Tool

Read the Web reads text aloud on web pages (HTML). No clicking or highlighting required, just hover over text. To use other tools uncheck “Read the web” in the drop down box. When using with Chrome or Firefox, you may be required to install an extension or plugin in order for the software to work with the browser.

PDF Aloud Tool

PDF Aloud can be used for accessible PDF’s. If you are unsure if your PDF is accessible, open file in PDF Aloud and if the tool won’t read the text, the PDF is not accessible. Use the scanner tool to make accessible. See more information below.

Scanning Tool

When you have an inaccessible document use the scanning tool to run your document through OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to create an accessible document. You use the drop down menu to select what format you wish to convert to and where you want to pull the file from (“usually scan from file”).SCANNING

Screenshot Reader Tool

This tool can be used within Blackboard to have inaccessible text read aloud. Text-to-Speech tool used with inaccessible documents or images with text. Selected text will be read aloud with highlighting. The tool converts selected portion of the file to text read aloud.

Speech Maker

Speech Maker can be used to create an MP3 file. You can listen to it on any device that reads MP3 files! Simply highlight the text and click the Speech Maker icon.

SPEECH MAKER

Once you have selected the text you wish to create MP3 a dialog box will appear. From here you can edit the text or add any information you wish to be in the MP3 file.
