Graduate Intern Job Description


TITLE:

Counseling Center Intern (40 Hours per week)

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A current master’s student in the Mental Health Counseling Program
  • Completion of departmental pre-internship requirements
REPORTS TO:
  • Director of Training (Tina Livingston)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Service Requirements:

  1. Individual Counseling:  Case load of 12-15 individual and/or couples per week; 1-2 intakes per week
  2. Group Counseling:   Co-lead a group
  3. Crisis Intervention:   Serve as on-call person 4 hours per week
  4. Outreach Programming:   Conduct programs/workshops as assigned by Outreach Coordinator (Reesa Ramsahai)
  5. Personality Assessment: Administer and interpret personality tests with clients as necessary

Training Requirements:

  • Supervision: Individual Supervision 1½ -2 hours/week
  • Training Seminars: Regularly attend and participate in weekly training seminars
  • Staffings/Staff Meetings: Attend/participate in a weekly staff meeting or staffing meeting

Administrative Requirements:

  • Clinical Records: Maintain clinical records in accordance with the Center’s procedures within 48 hours of session
  • Staff Meetings: Attend/participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Evaluation: Complete/submit evaluation forms as assigned
Additional and Optional Opportunities:
  • Training: Attend conferences/workshops outside of the center and/or UCA
  • Specific Areas: Seek out additional opportunities in testing, groups, programming, etc.
  • Research: Read/research the center’s resources and materials; initiate new projects
