Confucius Institute
History
The UCA Confucius Institute for Arkansas was established in 2007. It is the 24th Confucius Institute created within the United States and one of only 200 worldwide. It is the only such institute in Arkansas and one of the very few located in the South. The Institute exists to facilitate engagement with China in ways that strengthen the understanding, opportunities and interaction between Arkansans and the people of China.
The Confucius Institute concept has developed into a global network of more than 300 Confucius Institutes in 60 countries dedicated to the promotion and development of culture, language and business exchange with the People's Republic of China.
Mission
The mission of the Confucius Institute at University of Central Arkansas is to promote Chinese culture within the State of Arkansas. This is done is a variety of ways including cultural training, consultation services, seminars, conferences, language training support as well as cultural performances and exhibitions.
The UCA Confucius Institute exists to strengthen the ties between the State of Arkansas and the People's Republic of China and to enhance the mutual understanding of each respective culture. As such, the Institute is firmly committed to public service and community outreach to all segments and constituents of Arkansas.
