Virtual Career Fairs


Virtual career fairs can help you expand your job search while allowing you to meet multiple recruiting organizations from the comfort of your computer. Sounds great, doesn’t it? Here are some tips to help you make the most of these events. You’ll notice that it sounds very similar to the advice we give you for any career fair.

Before the Event

  • Register early.
  • Research the participating organizations and their job opportunities.
  • Have your resume(s) reviewed in advanced and prepared to upload to the system.
  • Some virtual career fairs has video and audio requirements. If so, make a good first impression by dressing professionally and eliminating visual and audio distractions.
  • Prepare some questions to ask the recruiters.
  • Plan you introduction (Elevator Pitch).

The Event

  • Log in a few minutes early to double check your connection and to reduce stress.
  • Treat every interaction like an interview.
  • Take notes and collect names and contact information.

After the Event

  • Review your notes.
  • Write thank you notes and include any attachments or other information requested.
