Environmental Intern

Job Title: Environmental Intern

Pay: $18.50 per hour

Requirements:

  • BA or BS in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related science field. Candidate must have an interest in performing laboratory testing and occasionally working in the field.
  • Self-motived and directed; willingness to learn; can work well as part of a team; ability to think creatively; give presentations to AKD employees and management; efficiently manage data; and produce results in a timely manner.
  • Minimum of 35 hrs per week; take weekend call (with pay) approximately once every two months; participate in annual shutdown of the mill.

Duties:

  • Laboratory testing of wastewater and mill process wastewaters;
  •  Be part of a team to upgrade lab testing protocol and dividing work responsibilities;
  • Generate and use data to track the performance of the AKD wastewater system;
  • Work to optimize the performance of the wastewater system;
  • Work to develop a wastewater sewer flow diagram for mill process areas;
  • Participate on Environmental Stewardship Team;
  • Participate in auditing process driven by continuous improvement initiatives of Environmental Management System;
  • Provide support for other environmental initiatives in the mill.

  • Assigned to existing Acxiom client(s) requiring on-going change to solution components. Works with the assignment solution architect on the account team within the organization regarding the requested change to an existing design
  • Assists required teams with issues management and research
  • Provides tier 1 solution component support (technical issue management) by researching and resolving issues
  • Focuses on client values and satisfaction
  • Provides support during testing phases, verifying the solution design and test results meets the approved client requirements
  • Begin developing a sense of proactiveness and ability to understand work that needs to be done without supervision
  • Adhere to Acxiom solution standards, estimates, processes, policies and procedures. Utilizes standard methodologies to promote consistency and drives adherence to standards within designated teams.
