M91-02 – JUDGE MORRIS S. ARNOLD COLLECTION

Judge Arnold’s papers were received on January 26, 1991.  The Morris S. Arnold papers consist of 12 family scrapbooks dating from 1903 through the 1940’s.  The collection also contains his memorandum opinions in the U.S. District Court, Western District of Arkansas from 1985-1992, and the United States Court of Appeals / Eighth Circuit from 1992 to present.  The UCA Archives continually receives his opinions and updates this collection periodically.

Arnold holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a law degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville, Arkansas.  He also has a master’s degree and a doctorate from Harvard University at Cambridge, Massachusetts.  Arnold was Dean of the Indiana School of Law at Bloomington.  He resigned in 1985 to accept the Federal Judgeship in the Western District of Arkansas.  A conservative Republican, Judge Arnold was appointed to the federal bench by former President Reagan.
