The Association of Future Alumni is a high profile, high-energy student organization that serves as the official host for alumni related student events.
Purpose of AFA:
- To serve as Ambassadors for the students on behalf of the UCA Alumni Association
- To serve as student representatives for the UCA Alumni Association.
- To serve as official host at selected university and alumni-related student events.
- To sponsor activities to increase student awareness of the UCA Alumni Association.
- To instill the spirit of tradition, volunteerism, & philanthropy among students and future alumni.
Events & Activities:
The organization participates in a variety of activities and events that require the dedication and commitment of each member.
The following activities and events allow members of AFA to network with UCA Alumni and students.
Freshmen Convocation - During Welcome Week, AFA presents each freshman with a UCA lapel pen and UCA Traditions and History book to welcome them into the UCA Family.
Mudstock - AFA hosts Mudstock, which is a mud volleyball tournament. It is held in the fall of each year. AFA has created an annual tradition that student's look forward to each year.
Freshmen Survival Kits - AFA sponsors UCA Freshmen Survival kits. The kits present an opportunity for the parents to show their son or daughter support and encourage them through their transition from high school to college. These kits can be ordered by calling 501-852-2955.
Roses for Grads - AFA members sell roses to graduates family members so they can be presented as a present to the new grad. This is held prior to every graduation commencement in the summer, fall and spring.
UCA Official Ring - AFA designed the UCA Official Ring and kicked off the ring program in Spring 2008. Rings can be ordered during "Ring Order Days" held in the Fall and Spring or www.balfour.com.
Homecoming - AFA assists the UCA Alumni Association in organizing and hosting activities for alumni during the week of homecoming. These activities include designing and selling the homecoming t-shirt, the Alumni homecoming party, tailgating, and Half-Century Club Brunch.
Tailgating - AFA assists the UCA Alumni Association in hosting, planning, and organizing activities for alumni and students during the UCA football season.
Alumni Chapter Socials - AFA assists the UCA Alumni Association in hosting these events around Arkansas and surrounding States. AFA members serve as liaisons between alumni members and the UCA student body.
Young Alumni Chapter Events - AFA assist with the Young Alumni Chapter events to promote membership and to serve as a liaison between the Young Alumni Chapter and the UCA Student body.
University Events - AFA assists the UCA foundation in hosting special events for the University and serves as the student representatives for the UCA Alumni Association.
Community Service - In addition to activities on the UCA campus, the AFA will be involved in at least one community service project per year.
How to Join AFA:
AFA applications are available in February of each year. You can pick one up at the Student Center Information desk, Buffalo Alumni Hall or download an AFA Application.
Requirements:
- Must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5
- Must be a Sophomore classification by end of spring '11, which requires completion of 30 credit hours.
- Must be in good standing with the University.
