Douglas F. George is an associate professor of sociology at the University of Central Arkansas. Dr. George earned his Ph.D. at the University of North Texas, after completing his master’s degree here at UCA. His research and teaching interests focus on the study of systemic racism, the enduring consequences of cultural hegemony, and public deliberation on unity and division in the United States. His current research involves a critical inquiry into the broader implications of racial resistance in sport for social change and inclusionary processes outside its boundaries. Other research interests include the study of new forms of collective behavior and identity formation in post-industrial America.
