As a Management Information Systems major at UCA, you’ll have access to all of the distinct advantages that make the UCA experience special. Just a few of the benefits of our program include:
- Expert Faculty who are committed to the success of their students both in the classroom and in the future, and provide a variety of industry experiences, including business consulting, and IT management. One of our instructors even helped develop the drones used by our military! All of our professors are AASCB certified, which means they are at the top of their field and their curriculum meets the highest standards in the discipline.
- Professional Networking through a variety of hands-on learning experiences, such as internships with companies and agencies like Acxiom, Dillard’s Corporate Office, Datatronics, Hewlett-Packard, and the Alaska State Government. Students can interact with industry leaders in the classroom, such as the Vice president of Hewlett-Packard and have the opportunity to co-sponsor an IT summer camp for high school students with Acxiom. The UCA Computer Club also brings guest speakers to campus, facilitates area field trips, and invites employers to an on-campus open house to meet students as prospective future employees.
- Employment Opportunities as nearly every company needs help with its information systems, there are a wide range of high-salary jobs available to graduates from our program. Some of our recent alumni have gained positions at companies such as Acxiom, Entergy, Hewlett-Packard, State Farm, UAMS, Datatronics, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Arkansas Systems, to name a few; and the opportunities for advancement in this field are significant. Additionally, the State of Arkansas offers a $2,500 per year loan forgiveness (for up to 4 years and $10,000) for MIS graduates that agree to contribute their skills to the state.
