Regional Math Contest for Central Region - University of Central Arkansas

The Mathematics Department at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) is is one of the sites that will host the Central Arkansas Regional Mathematics Contest, sponsored by Arkansas Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ACTM), on Saturday, March 7, 2015.  Secondary school students enrolled in any one of the following courses are invited to participate:  Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trig/PreCalculus, Calculus, and Statistics. Trophies will be awarded to students placing first, second, and third in each subject. These students, along with others from a statewide pool of high scores, will be invited to participate in the State Contest on Saturday, April 25, 2015, on the UCA campus.

A registration fee of $2.00 is charged to each student competing in the contest.  There is no additional fee for participation in the State Contest.  Registration forms and fees should be returned to your sponsor by Wednesday, February 25, 2015.  Sponsors, please make the fee payable to ACTM in the form of a check or purchase order.

A class sponsor or parent must accompany students participating in the contest at UCA. Participants should arrive at 9:15 am on Saturday, March 7, 2015.  (The doors will be opened at 9:00 a.m.) Students should bring a pencil and an appropriate calculator.  Test rooms for each subject will be posted in the lobby of the Mathematics/Computer Science Building at UCA (three buildings west of Papa John’s on Bruce Street).   All students should be in the appropriate testing room no later than 9:45 a.m. for instructions. The test will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. Students must remain in the testing room until time is called at 11:00 a.m. Refreshments will be available for teachers during testing time.  An award ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. in Doyne Health Science Auditorium (directly west of the Mathematics/Computer Science Building.)
