Established by the College of Education at the University of Central Arkansas, the MAT program prepares highly qualified mid-career professionals and recent graduates of higher education to be Arkansas classroom teachers.
The MAT graduate degree program is:
Designed for individuals without teaching credentials but who have successfully completed a baccalaureate degree and wish to become a teacher in an expeditious fashion.
Intended to assist potential teachers, those having a baccalaureate degree in a content area, to become practicing educators.
A 36 to 39-hour graduate degree program with two tracks: 4-8 Middle Level (39 hours) and Secondary/P–8 & 7–12 (36 hours with required 30 hours of content from previous coursework).
Our offices are located in Mashburn Hall (click here for campus maps and directions) in the Teaching and Learning suite. From 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM Monday through Thursday (until 4:30 PM on Fridays), someone should be available to answer your questions. We look forward to meeting you. PLEASE NOTE: While we welcome drop-in visitors, we cannot always guarantee a faculty member will be available to answer your questions on short notice. Faculty have many responsibilities that take them out of the office for meetings, school visits, etc.
National Award Winning Program
The Master of Arts in Teaching Program received the Association of Teacher Educator's 2010 Distinguished Program in Teacher Education Award at the annual national convention in Chicago.
